What is the London Living Rent scheme?
London Living Rent homes are offered to middle-income renters in London who want to eventually buy a home through Shared Ownership or outright sale. The properties are available on leases of at least three years, with rent below market rates, and can be extended for up to 10 years. Landlords are expected to support tenants in becoming homeowners within a decade
The Mayor sets rent annually, publishing benchmark London Living Rent levels based on local incomes and home size. The amount you’ll pay therefore depends on where you live, with prices based on a third of the average local household income. Prices are also adjusted for the number of bedrooms in each home, with family-sized homes capped to keep them affordable.
Who is eligible for the London Living Rent scheme?
Available to middle-income households with an income of less than £67,000, this scheme is for those who currently rent and want to save up a deposit to buy a home. Discover more about the scheme and eligibility with our guide to London Living Rent.
