London Home Show Sponsors: Meet L&Q
A guide to recent Shared Ownership affordability changes with L&Q
Are you looking to get on the property ladder, or interested in how different homeownership options could help you move?
Leading developer L&Q will be at the London Home Show next month to showcase its latest developments across the country, as well as provide plenty of information about Shared Ownership, London Living Rent and other homeownership routes.
Shared Ownership is perfect if you’re unable to afford to buy a property outright on the open market. You are eligible for the scheme if you have a combined annual housing income uber £80,000 (or £90,000 in London), and don’t already own a property. You will need to have good credit history and at least £5,000 to cover the costs associated with buying a home.
It can be a fantastic option for many house hunters, whether you’re looking to move nearby to your current home or further afield. L&Q has a huge range of Shared Ownership properties across London as well as areas such as Reading, Chelmsford and Cambridge, stretching up to Manchester and Clitheroe in the North West.
In addition to the eligibility criteria, for Shared Ownership homes within London, applicants are prioritised based on set criteria. Outside the capital, it works on a first come, first served basis. Applicants who currently serve in the armed forces are also prioritised. You can find out more about eligibility and applicant prioritisation here.
Shared Ownership has been a game-changer for many first time buyers, including Pastry Chef Paulo, who recently purchased a 25% share of an L&Q apartment at Barking Riverside. After hearing about the Shared Ownership scheme through a friend, Paulo applied via the L&Q website.
He explains: “Being someone who can often feel quite anxious and shy, moving and buying a home could have been a really stressful experience, but the team I dealt with at L&Q couldn’t have made me feel more comfortable. They answered all my questions and never made me feel silly for asking.”
L&Q will be exhibiting at the London Home Show next month – join them at stand six!
