For couples and growing families on the hunt for a little more space, a range of Shared Ownership houses are available and coming soon across the country – from Durham to the Kent coast. These properties offer the opportunity to secure a spacious home without the high costs of traditional buying.
Designed to help people onto the property ladder, Shared Ownership allows purchasers to buy a share of a property (typically 10%–75%) and pay subsidised rent on the remainder. Buyers will only pay a deposit on the share they are purchasing, not the full value of the home, meaning that deposits are usually far lower than when buying on the open market.
